N. K. Subbalakshmi (alias Baalu)

My mother, N. K. Subbalakshmi (called Baalu in the family circles), was born in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, to my Grand Parents Shri N. V. Krishna Iyer and Smt. Annapoorni Ammal, on 17th December 1940, as their second child.  My Grand Father was then working in the Pension Paymaster's Office.

My mother's elder sister N. K. Nagalakshmi - a spinster throughout her life - retired as a School Teacher and lives in our ancestral home "Jolsier House" in the Old Village of Nemmara, Palakkad district of Kerala, India.  Living with her is my mother's younger brother N. K. Venkateswaran with his family comprising wife Rajeswari and younger daughter N.V.Anupama - a News Reader in India Vision TV.  Their elder daughter Poornima is married to Suresh and they live with their daughter Haritha in Vaikom, Kerala.  Suresh is an Officer in Dhanalakshmi Bank.  One of the younger sisters of my mother - N. K. Vijayalakshmi lives with her husband E. V. Narayanan in their house located near our ancestral home in Nemmara.  Their elder daughter N. Seethalakshmi lives in Palakkad, Kerala with son Sreerag and daughter Sriranjani.  Her husband Subramanian works for a private firm in northern India. The younger daughter N. Rajashree lives in Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli district of Tamilnadu, India with husband Krishnan and sons Aadithya and Akshay.  Krishnan works for a private firm in Trichy.

My mother's younger brother N. K. Subramanian is working in Chennai, India in a Central Government organisation.  His family comprising wife Raji and children Supriya, Sooraj and Prarthana live in Avadi, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India.  Raji works for the same organisation as her husband.  Supriya works for a private firm and Suraj is studying for Engineering in Chennai.  Prarthana studies in school.

My mother's youngest sister N. K. Rajalakshmi lives in Aluva, Kerala State of India with her husband R. Narayanaswamy, a retired Co-operative Bank Officer.  Their son, N. Sreeram Prasad works as Vice President, Marketing & Strategy for Sprint Technologies and lives in Falls Church, Virginia, U.S.A.  He was recently married to Shanthi.   Daughter N. Srividya is married to Rajesh and live in Philadelphia, U.S.A. with daughter Sandhya.  Rajesh is a Computer Professional based in U.S.A.
